What to do following an accident
At CoverGirl our aim is to offer as much guidance and support as possible to our customers following an accident. Here are some things to try to remember immediately following an accident.
- Easier said than done, but try not to panic. You may feel stressed or upset following an
accident, but it will help if you can remain as calm as possible.
- Get the names, addresses and phone numbers of all the people involved in the accident.
Try to get details of any witnesses too
- Get insurance company and policy details of all drivers involved
- If you have a camera available, take a photo of the accident scene
- Sketch the position of the vehicles involved both before and after the accident and note the
speeds, distances, road layout, road signs and any obstructions to your and other road
users' views
- If anyone was injured or property was damaged, then by law you must show your Certificate
of Motor Insurance to the police or anyone else involved in the accident
- Never admit you were to blame for the accident or offer to make a payment for any damage
caused. Tell us if anyone admits responsibility for the accident
