Female drivers are more likely to want lock and key cover with their ladies car insurance policy than their male counterparts, new research suggests.
Independent financial research company Defaqto conducted a study which revealed that many women consider the extra cover for lost keys or damaged locks an essential, but found that 45 percent of car insurance policies do not cover the cost of replacement locks if car keys are stolen.
Mike Powell, Insight Analyst for General Insurance at Defaqto, said, "Check the policy wording as cover is usually subject to the policyholder being able to establish that the identity or garaging address of their car is known to any person who is in possession of the ignition keys."
A spokesperson for CoverGirl, the ladies car insurance specialist, said, "Making sure your policy has all the levels of cover you require is an important part of shopping for the best women's car insurance policy. We advise car insurance customers to undertake thorough research and shop around until they find the deal that's right for them."
