- Avoid the temptation to alter the letters or numbers. If you have bought a very personal number plate but it would look more like the word you are trying to spell if you moved parts of the letters around, you could find yourself in hot water with the police. You number plate should be clear and identifiable.
- If your car was registered before 01/01/1973 then you can use silver on black or white on your number plate. If you are was registered after this date you have to have a black on white plate at the front of the vehicle and black on yellow at the back
- If the police find that you have tampered with your number plate in any way then you could face a fine and endorsements on your license. It's not worth picking up points on your license just so you can tell the world your name is L0015E!
