If you are looking for cheap car insurance then you need not look any further. At CoverGirl we offer our customers massive savings on their existing premiums and in some cases we save people as much 30%. We only insure women drivers as we know that you are fed up with subsidising riskier male drivers who cause more serious car accidents. You can however have a male named driver on your policy.
We also save you money as we have reduced our overheads. We are an online company so we avoid the costs that our competitors incur by having a high street branch and large, expensive call centres. All the savings we make are passed straight back to you.
We are here to offer you great deals on your car insurance and also plenty of advice about motoring, safety and car insurance. Here’s a guide to running your car on vegetable oil, it can save you money and also goes some way to reduce the effect your car has on the environment.
Why should you run your car on vegetable oil?
Vegetable oil is renewable and therefore does not contribute to global warming. It has cleaner emissions than other oil and is better for your car, making your engine run smoother. Vegetable oil also has less sulphur so creates less sulphur dioxide which can create childhood asthma. It is possible to run your car on vegetable oil and in fact Rudolf Diesel’s first engines were built to run on peanut oil. It is also much cheaper to run your car on vegetable oil.
An ordinary diesel engine cannot run on 100% vegetable oil without a conversion as pure vegetable oil is too thick to run through the fuel pump and injectors. The best way to save time and money and use vegetable oil is to just mix it with diesel. You can do this by just putting them both into the fuel tank. Another alternative is to make or buy biodiesel. To find out more about biodiesel see: http://journeytoforever.org/biofuel.html and http://www.greenfuels.co.uk/
How much vegetable oil should you use? Well, start with a light blend of the two, adding a little of the veggie oil into a tank of diesel. If you hear the car spluttering you know you’ve added too much and should add more diesel. A 10% blend of oil and diesel will reduce the harmful emissions and does not impact on the way your car runs. You can go a couple of steps further and add as much as 50% vegetable oil to your engine. This is only suitable for the summer months as you may struggle to start the car in winter.
It is not illegal to run your car on vegetable oil in the UK but you must pay duty on it. To do this you need to:

*A replacement car can normally be arranged under one of the following conditions: (1) Comprehensive policyholders – a replacement car may be available under the terms of your insurance policy. Please check your policy details for more information. (2) Non fault accident – where we have the name, car registration number and insurance details of the person who caused the accident, we can supply a replacement car. This is done on a credit hire basis which means the costs for this service will be passed onto the insurance company of the person who caused the accident. We may not be able to arrange a replacement car where we are unable to get an admission of liability from their insurance company, or where the driver is untraceable or uninsured. (3) Repair garage – if your car is booked in for repairs following an accident, the repair garage may be able to provide a replacement car (subject to availability).
