Protect your car
All car insurance policies require the policyholder to take car of their car at all times. If you forget to lock your door and your car’s stolen, your claim for theft may not be paid at all.

Alarms and immobilsers
If you have an insurance company approved alarm or immobiliser, your insurance premium should be lower than if you don’t have one fitted.

Window etching
Make sure all windows in your car are etched with the registration number of your car. This acts as a deterrent for thieves.

Car parks
Always take the car park ticket with you so that thieves cannot leave the car park if they steal your car.

Leaving your car at night
If possible, always leave your car in a well-lit place.

Personal belongings
Never leave your personal belongings on display – hide them under the seats or in the boot.

Car details
Don’t keep your Certificate of Insurance or registration document in the car.

Ignition key
Never leave your car unintended with the key in the ignition – even if it’s for just a brief moment.

Windows
Close all windows tight when leaving the car.

*A replacement car can normally be arranged under one of the following conditions: (1) Comprehensive policyholders – a replacement car may be available under the terms of your insurance policy. Please check your policy details for more information. (2) Non fault accident – where we have the name, car registration number and insurance details of the person who caused the accident, we can supply a replacement car. This is done on a credit hire basis which means the costs for this service will be passed onto the insurance company of the person who caused the accident. We may not be able to arrange a replacement car where we are unable to get an admission of liability from their insurance company, or where the driver is untraceable or uninsured. (3) Repair garage – if your car is booked in for repairs following an accident, the repair garage may be able to provide a replacement car (subject to availability).
