Jodie Kidd - an example of why women deserve to have cheap motor insurance

From supermodel to super racer, Jodie Kidd has stunned everyone by taking to the track and proving to everybody that there's more to her than what meets the eye. What's more she demonstrated just why it is that women deserve to have cheaper motor insurance.

Born in 1978 in Canterbury, Jodie first shot to fame at the age of 16 when she began her international modelling career. She quickly became known as the "skinny" supermodel and many feared that she was suffering from anorexia - something that she always strongly denied.

In the following years, and as her career became even more established, Jodie explored other career possibilities such as TV presenting and guest reporting for GMTV. With so much work being thrown her way, I'm sure Jodie wouldn't have struggled to pay her woman car insurance.

Like most women, Jodie would have been able to get a good deal on her motor insurance quote because female drivers have great skills behind the wheel. With her extensive driving knowledge, there's no doubt that Jodie might have been offered a cheap policy from her car insurance provider.

According to Jodie, she owes her thanks to one of TV's greatest motoring personalities - Jeremy Clarkson. When she appeared on BBC2's Top Gear, Jodie took part in the show's Celeb Laptimes and achieved the fastest speed in a Suzuki Liana. If it hadn't been for her and Jeremy meeting at the Gumball 3000, things could have be a lot different.

Jodie said, "I went along because some friends were doing it. The next think I know Jeremy Clarkson is asking me to go on Top Gear."

"I love Jeremy Clarkson. I owe everything to him. I started racing cars because of him and I have a lot to thank him for. He takes the piss out of me constantly. I don't think he liked a blonde model beating him.

Like a number of motor insurance customers, Jodie remains a huge fan of the TV programme and when asked about her thoughts on Richard Hammond's crash said, "I was absolutely mortified. Crashing at that speed is seriously scary. When I'm going round a track in my Ferrari it seems incredibly fast. I can't imagine what it must have been like flippin' jet engine strapped to his backside. He's a great man."

Jodie, along with her co-driver, Fabio Babini, won her first motor race in December 2004 in Bologna, Italy.

Speaking to the press after making it first to the finishing line, Jodie said, "This is such an amazing experience. I have only just started racing, and was not expecting to gain first place on only my third race. I wish to thank my co-driver Fabio who has performed extremely well today, and whose advice on racing is always very precious to me."

As a fan of not only motor racing but polo, Jodie insists that her first love is with cars, she adds, "There's nothing quite like it. It's very full on, and very satisfying. It's about bettering yourself, getting the fastest lap times you can, it's about working with your mechanics - and I love the people who are involved in racing."

Jodie also has impressive motoring verbal skills, scaring not only her family with stats at the dinner table but herself with her love of different types of vehicles.

She states, "I love cars. I appreciate everything from the design to the engine to the feel of them. I love really well designed, beautiful cars, whether it's a Ford Focus or Bugatti Veyron."

Jodie has demonstrated that from a career of walking down a catwalk to one of racing cars, that she's definitely more than just a pretty face. Her love and vast knowledge for vehicles has been taken seriously within the industry and 29-year-old has asked on by one of the worlds leading retailers, Marks & Spencers, to appear in their motor insurance adverts.

It's fantastic to see women who benefit from lady car insurance making their way to the top. As things stand for Jodie, there's no doubt that the 6'1" supermodel will have an exciting future in motor sports ahead of her.
