A woman in America is facing charges of felony after allegedly drink-driving as her niece fell from the back seat car door in Compton, California.
The car was driving along Beach Boulevard when the girl fell out of the vehicle as it turned into Compton Boulevard, on Tuesday 22nd August.
In the future, the female driver may find it difficult to get cheap car insurance if found guilty of the charges brought against her.
It remains unclear why the car door opened but the girl riding in the back seat hadn't been wearing a seat belt to strap her in.
Sgt. William Wicker of the Sheriff's Compton station told reporters that the woman didn't actually notice that the girl had fallen out of the vehicle until a motorist chased her down and told her what had happened.
The girl was taken to Martin Luther King Jr.-Drew Medical Centre with possible concussion and bruises and was later released into the care of her father.
The female driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and on suspicion of child endangerment.
In the future the woman could find it difficult to get cheap car insurance if convicted of drink-driving. She may have to shop around to find the cheapest woman car insurance provider who will be able to offer an affordable motor insurance quote when she's allowed back on the road again.
