Research from Norwich Union has shown that some ladies will be looking at a more expensive motor insurance quote after the autumn unless they protect against car crime.
The cheap car insurance provider has found that the September to November period has the highest break-in rates of the year and sees many resulting car insurance claims.
Norwich Union's underwriting manager, Nigel Bartram, explained why this might be: "Most obvious is the shorter daylight hours - we all know that thieves prefer to work in the dark.
"And, after enjoying the summer evenings outdoors, many of us look forward to spending time indoors, which in many cases means we're not using our car as much in the evenings.
"We also see claims where cars have had pre-Christmas shopping in them - so the thief has made away with the car and Christmas gifts for friends and family," he finished.
Lee-Anne Bass from CoverGirl Car Insurance Services commented: "Girls, if you want to keep getting cheap motor insurance quotes, there are a few things you can do to reduce your chance of becoming a target of car crime.
"Keep your car locked at all times, even if you are just leaving it for a moment, don't tempt thieves by leaving any contents on show, and avoid parking in badly-lit areas."
