The good nature of a female driver was taken advantage of as criminals faked an injury to steal her car.
The 36-year-old woman car insurance customer was driving her Ford Fiesta along Redstone Hollow in Redhill on Friday 18th August.
The small car she was driving could have given her cheap car insurance but may have been an easy target for criminals looking for a woman driver.
The female motorist came across a young boy who appeared to be injured and was lying in the middle of the road. She got out of the car to check on the youngster but left her keys in the ignition and the engine running.
As she was walking over to him, another man pushed her from behind and the two men got into the car.
Investigating Officer, DS Ruth Atkins, said, "Due to the age of the suspects, the type of car stolen and the way in which the vehicle was abandoned, we believe the offenders live in the area."
A spokesperson for Cover Girl Car Insurance Services, the expert women's motor insurance provider, said, "The two men really took advantage of the lady driver's kindness. However, she acted quickly in an emergency which demonstrates just one of the reasons why women have cheap car insurance."
Police are urging anybody who may have witnessed the incident to contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or visit www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
