For most women, car insurance at a great rate is important but the safety of their children is paramount.
New child safety regulations are to be introduced after the summer and, according to motor insurance provider Norwich Union, this could be a life saver.
The number of deaths on our roads declined significantly following the introduction of the seatbelt law in 1982 and it is hoped that the lives of many children could be saved by enforcing stricter regulations for safety of children in cars.
As of September, motorists with children under three years old will be obliged by law to use an appropriate child seat. Also, children under the age of 12 will be required to wear an appropriate restraint as seatbelts are designed with adults in mind and do not provide enough protection to those under 4ft 11".
A spokesperson for CoverGirl, the women's car insurance providers, says: "Many of our customers have children and we know that they are their main priority while driving so enforcing such laws can only be a good thing. It will keep kiddies safe, take a weight off their mum's minds and help keep women's car insurance rates down."
