Russian police recruits women drivers

In the UK, women's safe driving gets them cheap car insurance but in Russia their driving knowledge is being put to the test.

The Russian police force has decided to recruit an all-female squad of traffic police in order to sort out the dangerous roads of Volograd.

This decision comes following research that, according to police chief of the area, Mikhail Tsukruk, shows women are less likely to succumb to corruption, which is still a powerful force in the country. The statistics that came out of the study apparently show that ladies would enforce traffic penalties where a man might take a bribe and let off the offender.

He also suggested that women drivers who apply for the positions would need more than just a strict adherence to the law. The policeman said that candidates".don't have to be blondes with long legs, but we'd like them to be attractive.let people admire them!"

Lee-Anne Bass of the cheap car insurance firm CoverGirl commented, "Well, we all know that ladies are better drivers so hopefully they can teach the men of the region a thing or two - it sounds like they need telling!"
