Although it is well known that cheap car insurance rates are much lower for women than for men, a lesser known fact is that females are also more likely to get a lower water bill.
A YouGov survey backed by motor insurance firm AA found that 12% of people are flaunting the hosepipe ban in order to clean their cars.
A much greater percentage of males than females were guilty of this, with 18% of men admitting to using a hosepipe to clean their cars compared to just 8% of women.
Lee-Anne Bass of CoverGirl Car Insurance Services, the experts in cheap car insurance, added: "All the women out there need to remind their husband or boyfriend to be more conservative with their use of water.
"Although there has been quite a lot of rainfall lately, we have to remember that the hosepipe ban is still in force."
