A bridesmaid from Wales has decided to travel to a wedding in Australia by land to save polluting the environment with carbon dioxide emissions.
Barbara Haddrill, 28, who lives in a caravan park in a forest near Machynlleth, has vowed to travel the 9,770 miles by land to get to her friends wedding in Australia.
Ladies insurance customers will usually benefit from cheap car insurance by travelling in smaller, eco-friendly vehicles, compared to larger engine sized cars which will guzzle petrol.
Her trip is believed to take six weeks and cost £2,000. She has planned to travel by bus to Moscow, ride the train to Beijing where she gets on another train to Singapore and then boards a boat to Brisbane.
According to Barbara, travelling by land would produce only 1.4 tonnes of carbon dioxide instead of 5.2 tonnes for flying.
She said, "I could never fly, it wouldn't be right. It's a challenge going overland buts it's worth it. I just hope I can get to the church on time."
Spokeswoman for Cover Girl Car Insurance Services, the expert ladies insurance provider said, "For a woman, car insurance can be more affordable because female drivers tend to buy smaller vehicles. If women upgraded to a car with a larger engine size, then they could risk losing cheap motor insurance."
