New research by Privilege Car Insurance has found that drivers who eat and drink behind the wheel could be doubling their risk of having a possible car accident.
Ladies insurance customers are always on the go and sometimes their hectic schedule means they might snack occasionally when driving to an important meeting but new research has shown they could be putting themselves and other motorists at risk.
For a woman, car insurance is usually a great deal cheaper than it is for men because they are safer drivers and, despite the stereotype, don't actually put their make up on in the mirror as they're driving to work.
The study carried out by the car insurance provider tested 26 drivers on a car simulator with a simple urban route, one test without eating and one while eating from a bag of sweets or drinking from a bottle.
According to the results, the number of car crashes doubled during the food and drink trial.
Mark Young, a researcher from Brunel University, who carried out the study said, "The results strongly indicate that eating or drinking while driving increases the risk of a crash."
Lee-Anne Bass, spokeswomen for Cover Girl Car Insurance Services, the expert ladies insurance provider said, "Eating and drinking could affect a driver's concentration as much as using a mobile phone. Anybody who may have an accident could risk losing their cheap car insurance in the future."
