A female driver has given birth on the back seat of a vehicle which has been advertised in the media as the "clever family car".
Linda Newall, 38, works as an administrator for a Vauxhall dealership in North Wales and may well have benefited from cheap car insurance for woman after buying the Meriva.
She was being driven to hospital by her partner, Ray Enston, when the baby wouldn't wait any longer.
Mr Enston, also an employee for Vauxhall, drove the vehicle to an ambulance station close to their home in Colwyn.
Paramedics attended to Ms Newall in the back seat of the car and delivered a 6lb 11oz baby boy.
After giving birth to baby Luke, Ms Newall said, "I suppose it's a good advert for Meriva, and they do say it is a family car."
A spokeswoman for Cover Girl Car Insurance, the expert motor insurance provider said, "Ms Newall apparently coped with the situation really calmly. This just goes to show why car insurance for women is a lot more affordable compared to men who will have to shop around for the best vehicle insurance quote."
