How many of you out there have lost the no claims discount from your women's car insurance provider because of a little parking accident?
Come on now, it's nothing to be ashamed of. It's not our fault. It's actually a scientific fact that female brains aren't built to cope very well with parking; it's something to do with hormones and spatial ability and testosterone.
But anyway, all that doesn't matter anymore because boffins in Japan have created a new computer system that does all the hard work for us. Fit it to your car and it uses scanners, sonar and cameras to calculate the best path to follow when manoeuvring into a space. All the info is then beamed to an onscreen display on the dashboard, showing you exactly where to go.The gadget has been created by Japanese electronics firm Denso, who are currently in negotiations to establish a distribution deal with British manufacturers, so keep an eye out for it appearing in a shop near you sometime soon.
A spokesman for the Driving Instructors Association commented on the need for a little extra help, saying, "Cars are generally safer than they have ever been, but many people find the spatial awareness needed to carry out manoeuvres such as parallel parking difficult to adjust to."
Craig Handy from Cover Girl Car Insurance Services, the experts at providing women's car insurance at fantastic prices, said, "Anything that saves your paintwork, and your cheap car insurance premium for that matter, can only be a good thing."
