Pink Ladies to get you home safely

As a woman, car insurance is cheaper for you than it is for a man. And rightly so. You’re officially a safer driver and less likely to cause an accident.

But being a girl has many more perks than just getting cheaper car insurance. It can now get you home safely at night too.

Two mums from Cheshire have started running an all-woman taxi firm after hearing about the high number of women who have been attacked after boozy nights out by bogus taxi drivers. Pink Ladies will only transport girls and all the drivers are female and trained in self-defence and first aid.

To use the service you must be a member, and 10% of your membership fee is donated to Breast Cancer Care. The company allows you to put credit on an account which means you can still get a ride home even if you’ve spent all your cash at the bar.

They’ll also give you a call when they’re ready to pick you up, therefore preventing you from hanging around on the street in the dark.

Andrea Winders, who formed the company with a friend after having concerns about her daughter getting home safely, said, "Most drivers are safe and reliable but there have been serious assaults against women travelling in unlicensed minicabs, late at night.

"We want women to have the choice of the extra peace of mind of a woman driver. And people can’t mistake our taxi's, they ’re so bright."
