We all know that as a woman, car insurance is far cheaper than it is for our male counterparts, yet it seems that this doesn't stop females from all over the country driving around without proper cover.
But now officers in the Scottish county of Tayside have had enough and have warned that drivers, male or female, caught with no motor insurance cover risk their cars being towed away and even crushed.
Using powers given to them by the Police Act 2005, officers are now entitled to confiscate any vehicle that doesn't have car insurance, and if documents are not produced or insurance purchased within a certain period of time, the car can then be destroyed.
Chief Constable John Vine, from Tayside Police, said, "Unlicensed and uninsured drivers are a threat to all road users and we aim to remove that threat by removing their means of transport.
"In other words - if they have no licence or no motor insurance, then soon they will have no car."
He also added, "It is the law-abiding citizens who are paying the consequences for these irresponsible, selfish drivers, and quite rightly they are fed up of it.
"We deal with a large number of offenders each year, but these new powers provide an immediate solution to these offences."
Tayside Police, it seems, are serious about stamping out the problem and constabularies across the country are beginning to follow suit. So, if you're driving around without cover, get in touch with a woman car insurance expert today and find yourself a fantastically cheap car insurance deal. There's bucketloads to be had.
