The average woman motorist will be involved in 9.2 car accidents in her lifetime, according to the latest research from Churchill.
This equates to one accident every six years and seven months and highlights the vital need for adequate car insurance cover. According to the statistics, women have more crashes than men over the course of their lives, but that doesn't mean we're worse drivers, it's just because we live longer.
There are 3.9 million motoring accidents in the UK every year, which is the same as 7.4 accidents occurring every minute. It seems a lot. In fact it is a lot. So much so that the Government are pushing for driving tests to become stricter in order to cut road accidents by 40% over the next ten years.
The research has also looked at other types of car insurance claims and shows that 76% of women are likely to report their car stolen at some point during their lives. Yet another reason to get proper motor insurance cover it seems.
Craig Handy, spokesperson for CoverGirl Car Insurance Services, specialists in car insurance for women, commented on the recent findings, saying, "People might be shocked at how many times they'll need to make a motor insurance claim over the years, which just goes to show how important comprehensive cover can be.
"It doesn’t matter how good a driver you are, it's inevitable that you're going to have to make a claim at some point. With the cheap deals that are available nowadays on car insurance for women, there really is no reason not to protect yourself properly and get full cover."
