A recent survey has revealed that women's cheap car insurance is under threat after it was discovered that females are more likely than men to have an accident on rural roads than men.
According to the survey by Direct Line, 48 percent of lady drivers find it difficult driving on rural roads, compared to just 36 percent of men.
In the past, some car accident statistics have shown that men are more likely to have an accident on such roads, which would explain why women's car insurance is cheaper.
Many drivers approach the bends at high speeds, risking a possible car crash. If a female motorist was to claim on her cheap women's car insurance, she could face losing some of her no claims bonus.
The motor insurance company found that almost three quarters of motorists would like to see speed limits restricted to 40mph on rural roads.
Spokeswoman for Direct Line, Emma Holyer, said, "The majority of motorists on the country roads in summer are likely to be unfamiliar with them and they can be extremely dangerous, especially when approached at high speeds."
