As a woman, car insurance should be cheap. And it's lucky it is really.
Because new research has shown that British women own £7.3 billion worth of clothes that they never wear.
The study by Churchill Home Insurance found that four out of every five women have bought clothes that have never been taken off the hanger. In fact, the average female has 14 items of clothing that have not been taken out of the wardrobe in the last year, with each of these items costing an average of £21.82.
Added up, that's £300 worth of clothes just sat there gathering dust. If that doesn't sound bad enough, over the course of her working life a woman will blow an average of £12,810 on clothes that are destined never to leave the closet.
It really is lucky that car insurance for women can be so cheap considering the amount of money that we waste. But men aren't much better. Over the course of their working life they'll squander nearly £8,000 on clothes that they'll never wear.
Craig Handy, spokesman for CoverGirl Car Insurance Services, specialists in cheap car insurance for women, said, "Girls can get fantastic cheap car insurance deals nowadays, which I suppose is a good thing if they're spending this much on clothes."
