Surgeons prove to be a cut above the rest
A survey by
car insurance providers Admiral has revealed that surgeons have topped the league of occupations most likely to own personalised number plates.
9.02% of the brainy docs have invested in a pair, compared with 2.9% of British drivers as a whole. In second place were oil and gas industry workers (8.43%), closely followed by haulage contractors (8.28%). Also featuring in the top ten were police inspectors, property developers, wedding photographers, airline pilots and company directors.
The
car insurance firm compiled the figures from its database of more than one million policyholders and discovered that those least likely to invest in status-enhancing plates are ecologists, with only 0.6% of the green-fingered boffins admitting to owning them.
Personalised plates are becoming increasingly popular among today's drivers, and more and more women are splashing out. With higher-powered jobs resulting in more spare cash, and larger numbers of ladies owning their own cars than ever before, a personalised plate is the ultimate accessory.
Katie Deem, a young and glamorous fashion industry expert from Cheshire, told reporters how much she adored her personalised plates, saying, "I got them for my birthday last year and they're fantastic, I love them!
"They give my little Clio so much more of an identity; I'd never go back to having a normal boring number plate ever again."
Many others are following Katie's lead and investing in plates, seeing it as a way to personalise their car without being penalised by their
motor insurance company. Getting a glittering paint job, fitting shiny allows or adding other extra bits and pieces is likely to increase an insurance premium, but by buying a unique and personalised number plate, your
women's car insurance quote should stay fantastically low.
