It's time again for us lucky girls at CoverGirl Car Insurance Services, the car insurance for women experts, get to hop behind the wheel and take a brand new motor for a spin around the block.
This week we've been given a Proton Savvy, the manufacturer's first five-door city car, and a good-looking little thing that turned up outside the office in a delectable shade of green. Apple Green apparently, and definitely looking good enough to eat.
But as we all know, there are more important things about a car than the colour. There's lots of room in the boot, 207 litres so they say, and some of the other girls in the office and I soon discovered that four adults can fit in comfortably without too much of a squeeze.
The 1.2-litre engine is perfectly adequate for nipping in and out of busy city streets and it was pleasantly surprising to find that the Savvy had a bit of oomph for the motorway too. It does 0-62 in less than 14 seconds and its 75bhp means it can get up to a top speed of 98mph. Not the quickest car in the world, but crosswinds did prove a bit of a problem on the blustery day we test drove it, so I don't think I'd like to go much faster for fear of being blown away.
A CD player comes as standard, and if you want to bling it up a tad, the Savvy can be ordered with 15-inch alloys, air conditioning, front fog lights and electric front windows for a few extra quid. The standard version comes at £5,995 on the road, but for all the bells and whistles included, you'll be looking at £7,695.
Not a bad price really for what is a fairly decent car. A motor insurance grouping of three and four make it a good bet for a cheap car insurance deal too, and the Savvy is backed up by one of the best warranties on the market.
Which means Proton must have great confidence in their latest offering, and we here at CoverGirl Car Insurance Services, the car insurance for women experts, can see why.
