According to research by Post Office Car Insurance, an enormous 81% of women are confused by 'new style' vehicle registration plates.
A survey by the company, traditionally known for their letter-sending abilities, but now attempting to break into the cheap car insurance market, revealed that the majority of women questioned admitted they have no idea what the jumbled concoction of letters and numbers actually mean.
The latest set of plates are due to be unveiled on March 1st 2006 and will include, as well as the letters identifying where the vehicle is registered, a zero and a six to reveal the age of the car. This information, however, doesn't seem to be understood by many people, and some even sheepishly admitted that they thought the first two letters on the plate referred to the driver's initials.
Commenting on the research, Phil Ashkuri from Post Office Car Insurance said, "It's been four and a half years since the current number plate format was introduced and still only a quarter of people actually understand what the letters and numbers on registration plates mean. With so many of us confused, those driving round in new cars this week might not turn as many heads as they'd like!"
Number plates might be confusing, but one thing that most definitely is not is the amazing offers currently available on car insurance for women. Online firms offering cheap car insurance adorn the internet, making buying a bargain premium wonderfully simple.
