Women drivers fall prey to car thieves

New reports have revealed that women are falling prey to car hijackers in high numbers. Besides being extremely harrowing many women find that one great benefit of being female is being taken away from them because of this shocking trend. Generally, for women, car insurance is cheaper than it is for men, but the level of car crime dictates how cheap, car insurance premiums are to buy.

The cost of car crime is high, the more cars that are stolen in this way, the more car insurance companies will have increase motor insurance premiums.

Worryingly, thieves see women as easier targets than men as they are less likely to fight back. New figures released by Britain's biggest police force show that the number of carjacking incidents in London jumped by 25% between 2004 and 2005 and police say that many of the new victims are women.

One of the reasons that car jacking is on the increase is the improvement in car security. It is no longer easy for car thieves to steal a car simply by hot-wiring it. Security devices are so advanced that stealing the keys is often the only way that criminals can drive away with someone else's car.

Car jacking is not only terrifying but can also lead to violence. Many car jackers are organised gangs who are very experienced in their chosen 'profession'. They are, more often than not, prepared to use violence to get away with the goods. For women, car insurance will cover the financial side of the car jacking but unfortunately the emotional impact may be more difficult to remedy.
