For women car insurance is cheaper than it is for men because they are statistically proven to cause fewer value car accidents. Male drivers cause high speed car accidents which then force car insurance premiums to rise. Women are more likely to be involved in low speed smashes, for example whilst parking.
New research has confirmed what many men have long insisted, and what could be said to form the basis of establishing how, for women, car insurance is better value. Women are now proven to have worse spatial awareness skills because they are lacking in the hormone testosterone, which babies are exposed to in the womb. Because the lack of spatial awareness is responsible for mainly low value car accidents, women can enjoy low cost motor insurance.
Dr Neave, a member of the British Psychological Society, added: "The sexes do use different skills to find their way around. Men seem to be able to keep the route in their head without landmarks whereas women rely on landmarks.
"So men may be better at finding the car when it's parked in a huge shopping centre car-park. This may also tap into driving and parking abilities."
He added: "Men do seem to be better at spatial abilities, and women at verbal and emotional skills.
"It may be a generalisation, but that does seem to be the case."
The hormone, testosterone, can also be blamed in part for men taking more risks whilst driving and therefore causing more high value car accidents. For women, car insurance is cheap because men drive more aggressively and therefore drive up the cost of motoring.
