The new ladette culture in Scotland has seen a huge rise in drink-driving amongst female drivers and campaigns to target the problem have been called for.
For women, driver insurance can usually be obtained at really great prices but the growing culture of women driving under the influence could see women's cheap car insurance premiums go through the roof.
The recent statistics revealed by the Scottish National Party show that the number of women convicted in Scotland for drink-driving has risen 65% from 674 in 1999-2000 to 1,112 in 2004-05.
If any motorist is caught drink-driving, they could find it very difficult getting cheap ladies car insurance in the future.
Sue Nicholson, a spokeswoman for the RAC said, "Women are driving more and drinking more and I think there is an element of ladette culture with more women drinking heavily."
The research has called for targeted campaigns to warn female drivers about the dangers of drinking whilst under the influence. Lady drivers should also be made aware that the cost of their women's driver insurance could possibly go up if things don't change.
