A survey has found that for a woman, car insurance might cost less if she chooses a yellow car because there is a smaller chance that it will be broken into.
The research that was carried out by barriersdirect.com asked 2,500 drivers the colour of any cars they owned which had been broken into.
When collated, the answers were clear cut. The least broken into cars were yellow, which just 2% of participants in the survey reported had been targeted by thieves.
The survey also found that blue cars make up the most frequently broken-into vehicles, with 25% of the responses, while red-coloured cars were close behind at 22%.
Lee-Anne Bass from CoverGirl, the woman's car insurance provider, said, "While on the face of it this study seems to show yellow cars are the least favourite choice by thieves, perhaps these statistics might simply be down to the fact that there are fewer of this colour car on the roads.
"But never mind whether these findings are true or not, the possibility of preventing a motor insurance claim by choosing a yellow paint job gives women an excellent excuse to get the fun colour car they always wanted!"
