What does the average woman think about eco-friendly cars?

The UK is becoming more and more environmentally-minded and prototypes for eco-friendly cars have been very well received so far. As the world's natural resources become depleted and there is more emphasis and demand on trying to find alternative and renewable sources of energy, an eco-friendly car that is capable of reducing fuel costs while helping to save the planet is a sensible choice. Drivers can even save pounds on their woman car insurance with an eco-friendly car.

Consumers are warming to eco-friendly cars, which are becoming increasingly popular and varied and more energy-efficient. Hybrid cars are already widely available, featuring a combined petrol and electric engine. Not only do these cars give drivers the chance to save on fuel, but many insurance companies offer lower premiums for cars that guzzle less gas.

As the average woman in the UK is already a better driver than the average man, eco-friendly cars give them a chance to save even more money on their woman car insurance, especially if they buy their policy from a specialist woman only car insurance firm.

This especially has implications for woman drivers who own a 4x4 - which are the focus of many campaigns to reduce carbon emissions. A 4x4 is already subject to many higher charges and Chancellor Gordon Brown's announcement to abolish car tax on vehicles with low emission rates has also affected the average woman's choice of car.

Millions of drivers have already downsized their vehicle to a more economic model to help offset spiralling fuel costs and fuel is the second most important thing that buyers consider when choosing a new car.

The car alternative is three-wheeled cars or 'micro cars' that look like a motorbike, are eco-friendly and designed to get you into narrow spaces. Prototypes are already being developed by companies like BMW. They are intended to provide an alternative to workers who don't want the expense of a larger car, or who want to buy a non-polluting vehicle but don't want to ride a motorbike or feel an electric bike would not meet their needs.

How far would you go for the planet? Despite many women thinking that an eco-friendly car is important and will save them money, statistics show that 15 per cent more men than women are considering changing their car to a more economical model. Questions have been raised about what the average woman is still focusing on her choice of vehicle - the cost of the car or the cost of her car to the planet.

If you are one of the growing number of female drivers who would like to progress your green consciousness beyond green fashion, ethical foods and environmentally-friendly homes and is considering changing your car to a more environmentally-friendly model, read more about green models at www.forbes.com.
