Over the last few years we as motorists have been warned about our impact on the environment and that we should ditch our cars in favour of walking, vehicle sharing and cycling. It's therefore ironic that Peugeot, a car manufacturing company which started life in the cycle industry, has recently unveiled their new, super echo-friendly 308 Hybrid HDi.
Years before motorists were buying online Peugeot car insurance, the car maker started its profession as a producer of bicycles, thanks to a man called Armand Peugeot, and in 1882 the first Peugeot penny-farthing was created.
Bikes have always remained a popular form of transport but in the last several years, different campaigns about global warming and pollution have all encouraged us to leave our cars locked up in garages for a few more days in the week, so we can cycle to work instead.
If the people back in the late 19th century had experienced the accessibility of travelling by car, I'm sure none of them would have wanted to swap it for travelling by bicycle. But in recent years, many motorists have done just that and all in a bid to help the environment. Whether they drove a Peugeot 307, 206 or 1007, drivers around the country ended their searches for cheap motor insurance and got out their bicycles instead.
In the UK, road workers were creating new cycle lanes and motorists driving in rush hour traffic had to contend with overtaking an increase in businessmen that were fully kitted out in their cycling gear. It seemed that all of a sudden everybody wanted to do their bit for the environment, no matter how many times they were nearly knocked off their bike by a speeding motorist. Fortunately, car manufactures have recognised that this doesn't have to be the case.
Peugeot is just one of several different car manufacturers that has turned its hand to creating a car that's not only kind to the environment but performs just as well as any other car on the road today. The Peugeot 308 Hybrid is bound to receive a positive response when it is revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2007 as the new, modern day, environmentally friendly car.
The reason why Peugeot car insurance enthusiasts are bound to get so excited over the new model is that is emits just 90g/km of CO2 and reduces fuel consumption by 38%. Even its pearlescent white and green colour scheme has been chosen carefully to reflect an essence of purity and ecology.
The demonstration at the Frankfurt Motor Show is just one of many that we can expect to see before Peugeot releases the finished product in 2010. There have already been changes to the 2006 307 Hybrid HDi model demonstration, which previously had a petrol engine. Instead, a diesel option has now been confirmed as the method of choice as it reduces fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
Not only is the Peugeot Hybrid a car of mechanical excellence, it also has the type of style that all motorists would dream of with its panoramic glass roof, RT4 multi-media system and light interior. Anybody who may eventually buy this car when it's released to the public in a few years time may also benefit from cheap Peugeot car insurance, especially when it's so kind to the environment.
So, if you've ditched your car in favour of riding a bike in the busy smoke of the city, come wind and rain, the light at the end of the tunnel is near. Soon, you'll be able to drive a car safe in the knowledge that you'll be helping the environment and have a few pennies left in your pocket after getting a great deal on your UK car insurance.

*A replacement car can normally be arranged under one of the following conditions: (1) Comprehensive policyholders – a replacement car may be available under the terms of your insurance policy. Please check your policy details for more information. (2) Non fault accident – where we have the name, car registration number and insurance details of the person who caused the accident, we can supply a replacement car. This is done on a credit hire basis which means the costs for this service will be passed onto the insurance company of the person who caused the accident. We may not be able to arrange a replacement car where we are unable to get an admission of liability from their insurance company, or where the driver is untraceable or uninsured. (3) Repair garage – if your car is booked in for repairs following an accident, the repair garage may be able to provide a replacement car (subject to availability).
