You can get dedicated handbag cover in your car, full wardrobe cover in your home, your boyfriend can be a named driver on your policy (if you so wish) and you can get female driver insurance on your van!!!

Yes, forget the status of the 'white van man' as the kings of the road-hogging world, the upsurgance in female entrepreneurs who drive their business from the front seat of a brand new van are being hailed as 'white vin women'; the commercial vehicle driving 'queens of the highways'. A leading high street insurance retailer has dubbed them as such due to the upmarket nature of the businesses involved; the image of the van driver is changing from beer swilling plumber to executive style wine connoisseur.

Many women dream of working their own hours to suit themselves (and/or their families), using long developed business and creative skills, but for most of these women there just aren't the employment opportunities out there to satisfy all their needs and wants. So, for many, the solution is simple, do-it-yourself.

A commercial vehicle insurance spokesperson says, "A new generation of entrepreneurs are shunning nine to five jobs and going into business for themselves. It also appears that TV shows such as Master Chef and House Doctor are giving some of these people the confidence to go it alone in the more creative and artistic sectors."

With quality and expense written all over them these smart shiny vehicles can easily multi-task and become your personal transport, they look that good you know. They are remarkably good for that large family supermarket shopping trip and - yes - now you can pick up two cases of Reserve Chardonnay along with the weekly shop and it will fit easily into the back of one of these beauties. You would even be able to pick up your partner from the Golf Course and fit his clubs in the back as well.

Interestingly, the average insurance value of 'white van man's' second hand panel van is £6,000, whereas a 'white vin' driver is more likely to be carrying high-end goods or specialised exclusive products and this is reflected in the average insurance value of van and contents being £25,000.

One successful female entrepreneur we know of has started a business to supply helium balloons. One of her defining moments as a woman in business came when delivering, from the back of her van, 80 pig shaped balloons on behalf of a bacon company. She relishes the fact that her company and its fun-filled product celebrates the happy times in people's lives, and she tells of the gratification she gets when people thank her for her service. On one occasion she received a feedback card from an 80 year old lady who was the happy recipient of a balloon and who said that it made her feel like a child again. That must have been a wonderful feeling.

And more and more women want that feeling from their daily working lives. So much so that a recent insurance survey discovered that 35% of commercial vehicle drivers were women and this figure is set to rise.

This is done on a credit hire basis which means the costs for this service will be passed onto the insurance company of the person who caused the accident. We may not be able to arrange a replacement car where we are unable to get an admission of liability from their insurance company, or where the driver is untraceable or uninsured. (3) Repair garage – if your car is booked in for repairs following an accident, the repair garage may be able to provide a replacement car (subject to availability).
