With yet more snow having fallen this week, the pothole problem is only set to get worse leading to a further rise in the number of car insurance for women claims.
However, it isn't the potholes themselves that are causing the majority of the damage, but the actions that motorists are taking to avoid them. Last minute swerving is leading to a rise in car accidents and crashes into parked cars and other motorists.
Between 18th January and 3rd February, one major car insurance company received seven claims a day for pothole damage and was expecting this to rise after the recent snowfall.
A spokesperson from the AA said, "With loss of no-claim bonus and insurance excess, it takes serious damage from a pothole 'strike' – or the consequences of one to justify making a claim."
If you have hit a pothole, you should check your tyres for damage, as undetected damage can cause a blow out. You should also check the terms of your car insurance for women to see if your policy has the right level of excess for you.
