Research by the Post Office has found that many ladies are happy to do basic car maintenance tasks, helping them to keep their cheap car insurance for women.
The findings of the study challenge many traditional stereotypes of female car owners, with 57% of ladies saying that they check their car's oil levels and 44% are prepared to add anti-freeze in winter time.
However, when it came to changing a tyre away from home, things were a little different. Just 20% of women said that they would be happy to do it themselves, whilst the remainder reported that they would call on their breakdown cover.
The Post Office's head of motor insurance said: "Carrying out these small maintenance tasks will not only help maintain your car but hopefully prevent you from breaking down when driving alone.
Although some female drivers still prefer to call in the experts, this research highlights that women are becoming more conscious of the car, their safety, and the effects a well-maintained car has on the environment."
He went on to point out that breakdown cover can be bought as an extra with car insurance for women from the Post Office.
