Flash floods on the River Enborne almost claimed their latest victim when a lady driver attempted to cross the ford at Headley in Hampshire, only to find herself trapped on her car roof above two metres of raging water.
It took 21 firemen and two fire engines to free the lady, who appropriately enough was stranded atop a 'Ford' Galaxy people carrier.
Their daring rescue, which involved balancing a ladder between the roofs of the car and one of the fire engines, took twenty minutes. The woman, described as 'surprisingly calm' despite her ordeal, might well have been killed or swept away had the stranded vehicle overturned.
It's lucky car insurance for women is so cheap in the first place, as she'll have to make a claim with her car insurance company for the full price of the written-off Ford. Waters rose up to two-thirds its height at the peak of the flood, irreparably clogging-up the engine and spoiling the interior.
CoverGirl spokesperson Lee-Ann Bass is an expert on car insurance for women. "It's such a relief the fire crews got there in time," she said.
"I'd love to get rescued by a fireman," she added.
