Lady loses hope of cheap car insurance after driving conviction

A woman who admitted drinking up to 32 cans of cider a day has lost any chance of cheap car insurance after being caught driving with excess alcohol twice.

She was first caught drink driving after an accident in which she crashed into a car, a fence and a lamppost in August 2006, but was again spotted driving while over the limit in February 2007.

Appearing at Aberdeen Sheriff Court, she admitted both instances of drink driving, driving carelessly, driving without motor insurance and failing to report an accident.

Despite her comment that she "deserved to go to prison", she was not given a jail sentence. Instead, she was banned from driving for three years, given 200 hours' community service and ordered to pay a fine of £200.

She said: "Not only did I risk leaving my daughter without a mum, I put other people's lives at risk."

A spokesperson for the cheap car insurance experts at CoverGirl Car Insurance Services commented: "It is fortunate that this lady did not cause any serious injuries through her actions. I hope that she will take to the roads legally after her three year ban."
