Research by a cheap car insurance company has shown that children have more faith in their father's driving than their mother's.
Privilege surveyed 500 children from across the UK to find out more about kids' attitudes to their parents' driving skills.
Even though ladies have been found time and time again to have fewer serious crashes than men - something which is reflected in women's car insurance rates - apparently children are not picking up on mum's safer driving habits.
The Privilege research revealed that 47% of children did not feel safe when their mother was behind the wheel compared to 39% who did not trust their father's driving - despite the fact that more reported being in a near miss while their father was in control of the car.
When asked about their parents' driving weaknesses, the most common complaint about mums was poor parking skills, whilst fathers were criticised for driving too fast.
A spokesperson for the cheap car insurance company said: "With almost one in 20 children actually scared by their parents' driving, grown-ups need to drive even more carefully and follow the rules of the road.
"Driving safely will help to put children's minds at ease, as well as demonstrating how they should drive in the future."
