Ladies' cheap car insurance talent doesn't stretch to car maintenance

Whilst ladies seem to find discovering cheap car insurance deals a breeze, research by Green Flag has shown that their prowess in the area of motor insurance does not necessarily carry over to car repairs.

The study found that 11% of motorists struggle even to open their car's bonnet, whilst 30% of ladies are clueless when it comes to checking the tyre pressure on their vehicle. A further 61% of female drivers admitted that they couldn't identify the spark plugs in their car's engine.

A spokesperson for Green Flag said: "The research clearly shows that many of us have scant knowledge about our cars despite relying on them to go about our everyday lives.

"There are few things more boring than being stuck waiting for help and just by brushing up on some basic car maintenance knowledge, drivers could identify some simple problems before the frustration kicks in."

Surprisingly, 14% also reported that they could not remember their registration plate number, which could well hinder them when it comes to searching through cheap car insurance quotes for the best deal.
