A female police officer has lost more than her cheap car insurance after she was caught drink driving.
The 30-year-old, from County Down, Northern Ireland, was caught driving the morning after she had been drinking heavily. She was measured as having 140mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood, 60mg above the legal limit.
As well as a fine, a driving ban, increased motor insurance costs, and disciplinary proceedings, the constable also has lost her feature spot in a TV ad due to be released at Christmas as a result of the offence.
The ad was aimed at discouraging Christmas revellers from getting behind the wheel whilst under the influence, and had the tagline: "You'll get smashed if you drive on drugs."
Gemma Turner, a spokesperson for the specialist cheap car insurance for women provider CoverGirl Car Insurance Services, said: "This lady really should have known better than to drive after drinking a lot the night before.
"She has certainly paid the price for her error in judgment."
