Female Devon residents could find themselves getting surprisingly cheap car insurance rates as a by-product of participating in a study.
Motorists who live around the Barnstaple and Newton Abbot area are being invited to take part in a car club scheme which could save them money as well as reducing their carbon emissions.
Devon County Council has turned to Carplus, a national charity, to heighten awareness of car clubs amongst residents and find out how much interest there would be in such a scheme.
Residents are invited to fill out an online survey at http://www.carplus.org.uk to register their interest in taking part in a car club.
If the scheme gets off the ground, those participating may find themselves getting cheap car insurance quotes on their usual vehicle thanks to their reduced mileage.
A spokesperson for the ladies' motor insurance company CoverGirl Car Insurance Services said: "Car club schemes are an excellent idea as they can help us save money as well as saving the planet.
"It is well worth taking a look at this scheme if you live in the Devon area."
