A female driver is unlikely to see cheap car insurance for quite some time after she took her boyfriend's car without his permission and wrote it off.
The 24-year-old woman, from Caldy, took her partner's Volkswagen Golf because she fancied a late-night curry but didn't want to walk.
Unfortunately, something caused her to lose control on the journey - it is not known what, since she is confused over the incident - and the £10,500 VW was found crashed into a barrier.
The police caught up with the 24-year-old at her boyfriend's house later that night.
She said: "I did crash the car. I was in a state of shock, especially after the air bag hit me in the face."
She admitted charges of driving without motor insurance, aggravated taking of a car, and not being covered by her driving licence.
Although she has not yet been sentenced at Wirral Magistrates' Court, it is likely that the penalty imposed on her will mean cheap car insurance is hard to come by, even if she does go to a specialist women's car insurance company.
