Woman likely to see end to cheap car insurance after freak crash

A lady whose car was crushed by a falling tree has been talking of her relief that she survived the freak accident.

Beverley Sharples, from Castleton, Rochdale, had been driving down Manchester Road near her home when the crash occurred during high winds.

She said: "I saw another tree had blown down on my way home, but carried on and was only a minute away from my home."

"I remember seeing the trees swaying in the wind and that was it, the next thing I knew I was looking down at my legs to see if they were still there."

Luckily for Mrs Sharples, who works for Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale Patient Care Trust, she escaped with relatively minor injuries, including whiplash and bruised ribs.

It is likely that she will have to claim on her cheap car insurance policy for the accident, in which her BMW was very severely damaged.

She commented on the vehicle, saying: "That car saved my life, in a smaller one I wouldn't have stood a chance."

Lee-Anne Bass, from the woman motor insurance experts at CoverGirl Car Insurance Services, commented: "It sounds like Mrs Sharples was extremely fortunate to walk away from this accident.

"However, she will probably be seeing the consequences of this crash reflected in cheap car insurance quotes for years to come - even though it wasn't really her fault."
