Spying attempts by loss adjusters to disprove a woman car insurance claim made by a 63-year-old grandmother failed to stop a leading UK judge awarding more than £1.7million in compensation.
The Huddersfield woman was hospitalised for four months after a van smashed into her car.
A tipping truck hit the pensioner female motorist into a dry stone wall. Her legs and hands were badly injured, the court was told when hearing the car insurance claim.
Video evidence was gathered by private investigators to try to claim she was over-stating her suffering and difficulties living her life after the car accident.
They alleged the disabled gran was playing on the state of her injuries.
But the judge decided this was not the case, saying she has been determined to recover from the disability problems she has experienced.
In awarding almost two million pounds, he said the gran was someone fighting the health problems she had sustained in the crash.
The driver's motor insurance company admitted liability to the woman car insurance claim, it was reported.
