The cost of car insurance for women in Canada could be about to fall in the wake of new research from Kanetix.com, an online car insurance switching site.
After sifting through 2006's road accident and convictions data, researchers at Kanetix concluded that Canadian ladies are considerably less likely to break the law whilst at the wheel than Canadian men. Male drivers proved to be nearly three times as likely to have been caught ignoring a traffic sign, for example, and almost six times as likely to break seatbelt regulations.
Also, of the 34,022 collisions that took place on Canadian roads that year, a unflattering 66 percent were caused by men.
"There is much more than just tickets and accidents needed to determine who's a better driver," said a diplomatic Kanetix spokesperson, "but it's certainly interesting to see the obvious gender divide in our behaviour at the wheel."
Hopefully the findings will lead to cheaper car insurance for women in Canada, and elsewhere around the globe.
