Be vigilant, be safe

A particular worry for this particular cheap car insurance company is news regarding bogus driving instructors.

The Driving Standards Agency (DSA) has warned learner drivers to be vigilant today after investigating over 400 cases of unqualified or unregistered, and therefore illegal, driving instructors throughout the UK.

It is recommended that all learner drivers check their instructor's credentials carefully:

A pink badge or licence indicates that the instructor is a trainee and is entitled to take payment for instruction whilst studying for the instructor test.

A green certificate indicates that they have qualified as a Registered Driving Instructor.

Learner drivers are urged to make sure the photo on the licence matches the person giving the lesson.

The date should also be checked. The DSA makes regular assessments of Registered Driving Instructors who are required by law to keep their licence up-to-date. Failure to surrender themselves for checks invalidates the license and renders it unusable.

Sadly, unscrupulous driving instructors are charging for their services when they are not entitled to do so.
