The credit crunch is affecting us all, but motorists still require car insurance. Female drivers are being warned that trying to evade paying for car tax and insurance could see them in court.
A Carlisle woman recently ended up in front of a judge after using a marker pen to adjust the information on her tax disc.
However, it was spotted by a traffic warden in August of last year.
The 68-year-old woman pleaded guilty to fraudulently using an altered road tax disc and driving the vehicle without valid car insurance.
She was told to pay £722 court costs and was given a six months probation order.
In passing the sentence it was recognised that the woman motorist did not have a record of law breaking and that difficulties in her home life had forced her to do it.
A spokesperson for CoverGirl said, "Car insurance for female drivers is just not optional. Here at CoverGirl we do everything we can to make sure you get the cheapest car quote possible."
