If you buy a car jam-packed with road safety devices, you might expect your car insurance for women to be cheaper. Nigel Bartram, the Motor Underwriting Strategy Manager for Aviva, checks this expectation by looking at all innovations in the motor manufacturing industry and assessing them in relation to car insurance premiums.
He told noclaimsdiscount.co.uk, "We will only consider safety technology
when a car is launched and then, only those systems which come as standard
and cannot be switched off.
"We also track the claims history for each type of car and if it's found
that after its initial trials a certain model has higher or lower risk
of being involved in an accident, then the premium can be adjusted accordingly."
A spokesperson for CoverGirl said, "Although it is widely recognised that
a newer car with more safety features will be less of a risk in an accident,
the driving history of the car's owner will be a major consideration when
calculating the car
insurance quote."
With the majority of accidents occurring through driver error, it would
appear that the best way to get cheaper car
insurance for women is by driving safely, thereby protecting your
no-claims bonus.
