In general, car insurance for women is cheaper because female drivers take fewer risks when driving.
A male Australian driver certainly took one risk too many after performing a burnout manoeuvre that led to a collision with parked cars and pedestrians in South Sydney recently.
The 20-year-old, who had allegedly attended a nearby party, lost control of his vehicle whilst carrying out a 'donut' in the street.
Police reported that his vehicle "sideswiped one parked car and collided with another" before making contact with two women who were sitting on a nearby curb. Both women received surgery for serious leg injuries at a nearby hospital.
The young male driver was found by police and taken into police custody where he tested positive for alcohol.
He was charged with drink-driving, dangerous and negligent driving that caused grievous bodily harm, and reckless driving that risked a person's safety.
A spokesperson for CoverGirl, the specialist providers of car insurance for women, said, "This particular brand of risky driving behaviour is particularly pernicious as the perpetrators appear to risk the safety of others for fun."
