Claiming on your car insurance for women can mean a bigger quote at renewal time, and if drivers are worried about tempting thieves with that tell-tale sat-nav suction ring on the windscreen, then a new product on the market might be just the gadget.
The Nav-Mat is a portable holder for GPS systems that turns the unit from screen mounted to a dashboard mounted device.
The manufacturers say that its contoured and weighted, anti-skid underside prevents the sat-nav from sliding. Unlike traditional screen mounted units, the Nav-Mat leaves the screen unobstructed.
The Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) run a Secured by Design inititive to encourage products specifically intended to aid crime prevention and have recognised the Nav-Mat's potential.
An ACPO spokesperson said, "We particularly liked the Nav-Mat as it is a simple solution for a major crime problem affecting the UK."
The Nav-Mat is available online from www.navmat.co.uk.
A CoverGirl spokesperson said, "Crime prevention should be a serious consideration for all drivers as your car insurance for women premium renewal quote may not stay cheap if you have to claim after a break-in."
