Many Scottish ladies are putting their car insurance for women at risk as they drive extra miles over the Christmas period.
In all, an extra 257 million miles will be driven by female motorists in Scotland as they search for the perfect Christmas present and visit family.
The research, carried out by the specialist car insurance for women company Sheilas' Wheels, revealed that the average female driver will put an extra 240 miles on the odometer this Christmas.
It isn't just the chances of getting a cheap motor insurance quote that could be hurt by these extra miles, either. Increased mileage hits many motorists in the pocket too, with an estimated £33 million being spent on fuel and parking.
The Post Office, which also offers cheap car insurance, conducted a similar study recently.
A spokesman for the Post Office concluded the results, saying: "It seems that people are literally going to great lengths to shop for Christmas presents."
