A company which specialises in car insurance for women has released details of a study into the speeding habits of woman drivers.
According to the car insurance for women specialist, women who drive expensive or high-performance cars are much more likely to be booked for speeding offences than women who don't. Overall, women who drive luxury cars or sports cars are 11% more likely to be caught driving above the speed limit.
Furthermore, the study found that housewives are more likely to speed than the typical working woman.
However, the motor insurance company revealed one surprising aspect to the study: although women who drive expensive vehicles and sports cars are more likely to be caught speeding they travel 619 fewer miles than the women drivers of other vehicles.
A spokeswoman with the car insurance for women company comments, "Housewives make up the biggest occupational group we insure, we wanted to see if there were any differences between them and the rest of the female motoring population.
"Some of the figures were startling. The average value of housewives' cars is considerably higher, as is the engine size of the cars they drive."
